Schizophrenia
Way back in 1976, scientists linked the development of schizophrenia to the consumption of wheat gluten. During what was called a period of “blind” wheat gluten challenge, where a group of participants with schizophrenia consumed a wheat-free and milk-free diet. After termination of the gluten challenge, the researchers concluded that the disease may have developed in the people due to a primary “schizophrenia-promoting effect of wheat gluten.”
