Dill is native to western Africa and the Mediterranean region. Eating the alkaline herb may help people manage their diabetes by lowering blood sugar levels and promoting healthy insulin production. Although there are many herbs and spices that can help treat diabetes, dill can work wonders. According to Dr James Duke, an American botanist’s Ethnobotanical Database, dill has over 70 different elements that can help fight diabetes.

Studies have also indicated that dill have certain therapeutic properties that can help treat type 2 diabetes, due to several essential elements that the plant possess. Dill can also be used to treat other health conditions, reduce harmful inflammation and hyperglycemia, a condition denoted by an excess of glucose in the blood stream of a person leading to type 2 diabetes or diabetes mellitus. Moreover, the herb also helps in controlling thyroid functions and improving the immune system.

Eating dill is even great for people who don’t suffer from type 2 diabetes.
