Body Has Trouble Digesting Betanin

Beets have high amounts of betanin in it. The red colour compound betanin isn’t easily broken down in the body, and in higher concentrations it may turn the urine and stool to a reddish color. In the case of urine this is called beeturia. Many researchers suggest that there has to be more studies on possible effects of beeturia.
